Shizophonic

It's been a while since i posted a look here as i have busy with lots of stuff and and I wanna start again and return with a BANG. Schizophonic - From root word schizo (split) and phone (voice/sound). I have entitled it schizophonic because I have performed on our x-mas party using my two voices. My natural male voice and my falsetto (female voice). I have attempted to have a duet with myself and had the courage to be Mariah Carey and Boys II Men. Aside from fashion, my second passion is singing. I am a frustrated singer. If you want to view the full video just click this link: youtube.com/watch?v=_Gvu7FPj-oY Enough about the sound. Let's talk about fashion. I have created this two-piece outfit or shall i say four-piece using my old clothes. Well to start of, my male outfit was made from my old black pants, gray and white and black checkered vest. For the female look, i have created this silver semi see-through long sleeves and bedazzled with sequins to somewhat cover the breast area and ribbons. I have created a mini layered black skirt and gray fur. Black stilettos and black boots for my shoes. Hope you guys liked it!

Breakfast Of Champions

Breakfast of Champions. Three recipes in one writing, isn't that amazing? Hahaha. Aside from the fact that it is very affordable and convenient, it is very delicious too. Triple cheese sandwich-pizza, chicken hotdog, and baked spicy garlic and cheese potatoes. The triple cheese sandwich pizza was made out of my leftovers sauce from the triple cheese carbonara i made yesterday. All you need is bread and there you have it a sandwich pizza. Just spread the leftover sauce on the bread, add grated cheese and toast it. Easy as one two three. Very cost-efficient since you don't have to throw the extra sauce away. You can create a brand new recipe from your leftovers. The hotdog was a regular chicken hotdog you can buy from any grocery. I never buy the red kind of hotdog. It's not that I don't like them, its just that chicken hotdogs are more healthy since it is made out of white meat.

The next recipe is a baked spicy garlic and cheese potatoes. You will need, baby potatoes, cheddar cheese, olive oil, paprika 1/2 teaspoon, garlic powder 2 tbsps, five italian spices 1 tsp and salt and pepper.

First clean the baby potatoes thoroughly. Boil it in water until the baby potatoes are cooked. Once cooked, drain the baby potatoes, add olive oil, add all the powdered ingredients and spices. Add grated cheese until it covers the potatoes. More or less one 400g cheese depending on the quantity of the baby potatoes. Bake for 10 minutes in 200 degrees heat or microwave it for 5 minutes. You can add mayonnaise too.

What a great way to start a day! ^_^

Triple Cheese Carbonara

Another pasta recipe I'm sure everyone will love. This is what i cooked for breakfast today. As i have said on my earlier post, pasta dishes are my specialty. To start of, this pasta treat will not just satisfy your hunger but will give you the extra boost you need for a busy Sunday morning. I called it triple cheese carbonara as I have used three kinds of cheese. Cream cheese as a base sauce and cheddar and parmesan as a topping, that is why it will give you extra boost. ^_^

Here are the ingredients: Cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, cheddar cheese, pasta, cream, pasta cooked as per packaging instruction, five Italian spices, holiday ham, kernel corn, mushroom, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper.

Instructions: Cook pasta as per packaging instructions, saute holiday ham, kernel corns and mushroom in olive oil. Add garlic powder, onion powder, five italian spice and salt and pepper. Add cream of corn, all purpose cream, and cream cheese ( preferably Philadelphia cream cheese 1/4 block) mix until thicken. Once ham is cooked, mix with the pasta, garnish with cheddar and parmesan cheese. Add basil as a garnishing. Serve.

I hope you guys try and enjoy this recipe, you can remove the cream cheese on a sauce if your worried about fat or if you don't have it. ^_^

Aligue and Mushroom Pasta

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This is one of my side that I also want to share. Aside from being a fashion designer/enthusiast, singer, writer and nurse, I am also a cook. Well i try to be. I love things that are related to creativity. I'm an artist, so I try every bit of artistry there is. When it comes to cooking, i love experimenting, adding unconventional ingredients to create a new taste. My specialties are pasta dishes. To start of this new self-proclaimed "expertise" on my blog, I want to share my recipe for Aligue Pasta. It is a crab paste base pasta. Aligue is the Tagalog term for crab fat. Most of the aligue pasta recipes there is uses the paste itself as a sauce and just sauteing it but i have a different take on it.

First of, we need to boil the pasta: Any pasta type will do but since I only have the regular spaghetti, that's what i have used for this dish: (You can also use fettuccine) then after the water was brought to a boil add pasta and cooking oil:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After the pasta was done, put it aside and strain immediately, to prevent the pasta from being overcooked.

Get the sauce ingredients. You will need crab paste, (aligue) this usually comes in bottles and/or can and you can buy it at any local grocery stores. I choose this brand, because of the taste, it is somewhat bland and spicy at the same time. Most of the aligue there is has lemon juices and a bit salty, but this brand is somewhat bland but still the crab fat flavors is still very very distinct:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Saute the crab paste, and tuna using olive oil. Normally, aligue pasta doesn't have tuna, but i just added it as i need meat on my dish. This is just an option if you prefer aligue alone it is still okay or you can add your favorite seafood like shrimp, squid and clams. I use Olive oil since it is the most healthy oil there is. I try my best to use healthy ingredients on my dishes. Since crab paste is rich in fat and they say it can add up to your cholesterol, i use Tuna since it has Omega 3 that helps fight cholesterol.

Add Mushroom, season it with salt, pepper, garlic powder and my secret ingredient which i use most of the time on my recipes: the Italian seasoning. It is a mixture of 5 different Italian herbs: Thyme, Rosemary, Sage, Marjoram and Basil. It is perfect for tomato-based sauces and also good for green salads, dips, soups, and dressings.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After simmering for 5 minutes, add tomato sauce. As i kept on blabbering, this is not the usual aligue pasta as they don't add tomato sauce on it, most of the time they use cream or just plain aligue. But since this is fat-rich food i try to balance it with healthy options. Let it simmer again for 5 minutes:

Mix it with your pasta and add Parmesan cheese and a squeeze of lemon or calamansi and voila you have the healthy Aligue and Mushroom Pasta:

Back To School Look

This look was inspired by a contest held at our office, "Back To School". We have to wear an outfit inspired by going back to school. Most of the team dressed up for the occasion. Some wore school uniforms, preppy look, scout's uniform and professors just to name a few. The event was done to promote camaraderie. team spirit and to alleviate some of the stress at work. Winners will receive gift certificates from their chosen restaurants. This is a good way to have fun at work. To tell you more about my look: to start of, My top was a classic white polo from Lee, which i accessorized by wearing a red, blue and black polka dots tie and a brown printed jacket. For the pants, Red jeans which I got from Robinson's Department Store. Top-sider shoes in Red and white leather from Cardams. My bag was created out of faux-fur, and gold straps from my old bag.

Enchanting Gaga

This look was my entry for Spookbook Costume Contest.

All of the pieces in this look were created by me. I was inspired by Lady Gaga's outfit when she performed in the Brit Awards 2010 Alexander McQueen Tribute.

For the one piece, i used stretch tulle and covered it with lace. I also applied gold applique to the edges of the lace to enhance the design of the outfit. The tulle cape was multiple layers of tulle. I used ballerina skirt application to achieve the fluffiness of the cape at the neck area,

The boots were my creation also. Shoes are my specialty. It is made out of yellow alligator skin leather. You can check some of my creations at facebook.com/kylsdesign.

Hope you guys like it.. ^_^

Violet Hues

I can say this is one of my most favorite looks I have pulled of so far.  I am wearing my black, violet and white stripes shirt from Bum Equipment, a local clothing store in PH.  The fabric used for this shirt is so breathable and soft that you feel like you aren’t wearing anything at all.

I have made the pants for this.  This was my attempt in making a low-crotch pants/cargo pants.  I have found this amazing pink denim at a local fabric store in Marikina Market Mall and I immediately envisioned the pants that I want to do with it.  Here is the picture for a close-up look.

These shoes were my favorite. Aside from the fact that it is animal prints in pink, two of my most favorite things in the world, this was my very first creation for shoes.  I started making shoes when Espadrilles are really making its comeback.  I decided to create not the usual espadrilles type, but use out of this world fabrics and prints and this was the result.  Here is a close up look.

Post Indepence Day Look..

Post-independence day.. I had this look a week after US celebrated their Independence Day.  My top is a simple tee with a different type of v-neck neckline in red and white detailing.  I bought this from SM, A local mall here in the Philippines.  I actually bought this accidentally.  I am really not a mall-type kinda shopper. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against it its just that most of their clothes are in small sizes good thing I lost some weight. :-).  My pants is what i call butterfly pants, i named it butterfly since the effect that the pockets gave when you do not close the buttons all the way up has a butterfly effect. For my shoes, this is the flagship of the look since it is an American flag-styled vans sneakers. This has been with me for almost 5 years now, hence the somewhat dilapidated look. For my accessories, i am wearing a black rosary-type necklace but instead of a cross as a pendant I changed it with the letter K.  colored beads, and triangle knapsack.

Something Baggy

Something Baggy..

In fashion they say, someone who has a big built should never wear loose clothing as it adds up to their built.  I say go right ahead as long as something in your outfit is fitted.  I wore this somewhat baggy cargo pants because  I just love the way the pockets go with the pants.  It is somewhat utilitarian and fashionable at the same time.  I love the placement of the pockets.  If we are not too careful, yes it might add up to your built but sometimes it can hide and sometimes enhance the part of your body that needs noticing.

I wore a fitted Monakiki shirt. I just love the print of this shirt.  It is quirky and cool.  This is what I'm talking about not wearing all loose clothing.  I hope I was able to compliment the pants with a tighter top.  I am also wearing one of my early creations.  An espadrille type shoes.  I used a gold leather with embossed design of leaf.  Here is a close up look:

For my jacket, it was knitted jacket i bought from one the thrift store I featured on my going green post.

Going Green

Going Green..

I named this look going green because of evident use of green palette in the outfit. The green cardigan was bought from my favorite thrift store in Anonas, Quezon City. There is a mall-type building with wide variety of thrift stores where they offer clothes, bags, accessories and even make-up and shoes.  Sometimes it can get pricey especially if it's new arrival but since I always go there I know when it is on its 50% off and even 70%.

The pants were from Bench.  It was one of my favorite pants because this was the first pair I own where the fit was awesome.  It is supposed to be skinny-type but I lost a lot of weight ^_^ go figure.

The shoes I bought from Cardams.  A local shoe store in Manila.  It is very comfortable and I love the color.

We Found Love Acoustic

Here is my acoustic version of We Found Love by Rihanna:

We Found Love Acoustic

This is my own version of the popular dance/rnb song of Rihanna.  This version was previously sang by Jessie J.  I am a big fan of those two girls.   I always copy Rihanna's hair some say I look like her.. :-)

I also like Jessie J's way of singing.  She is full of soul, and I love the way she puts her on twist on a song.

I hope you guys like it..

Green Rose..

I named it Green Rose as I am wearing my most fave sweater of all time. I bought it from HK. Actually I saw a famous filipina model/tv star wearing the identical sweater in one of her print ads. My pants were a regular skinny jeans I just added flare into it by adding Rose applique.

Shoes of course were my creation. Alligator skin leather. here is a closer look:

Argyle Meets Leopard

Jaded

Jaded..

I named this look jaded not because i feel jaded but because most of my colors are in the shades of green. I am wearing a tee that said Kill Hip Hop. I have nothing against hip hop, don't get me wrong, I just find it humorous.

I bought the jacket from OshKosh Bgosh. When I first saw this, my eyes were immediately drawn to it due to the vibrant colors it consists. The cut of this is short more of a bolero-type which I also love.

My pants were from Thailand. I just love the tiny detailing of the stitches in the front and back. The color was out of this world too.

My shoes are my signature. This is my own creation. A yellow top-sider. Here is the draft and finish product:

All About Denim

Classic Vintage

Silk and Star

Silk and Star.. I called this silk and star for two obvious reasons. Silk because i have created a raincoat out of silk fabric. It has been raining for the past weeks and I was inspired to create a raincoat-inspired outerwear but made it more current and fashion forward. I have put a string in the waist area and neck so it can be tightened up. Star because of the watch i bought for a cheap price. I just find this watch super cute. Here is a picture for a close up look: Image and video hosting by TinyPic For my accessories. i have a created a ring from my old necklace. I have used the square pendant from my old necklace to create a ring, charm bracelet using different stones. My necklaces were a vintage silver choker and a rosary of music. Here is a close-up look: Image and video hosting by TinyPic For my shoes, I bought it from MdB. It is made out of denim which i love. I am trying to add this style on my collection of shoes that i am making. I am still studying how to create a pattern of this without me tearing this apart. This will be coming soon! Here is a close up look: Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Beigeful

Beigeful. I just invented a word for this look(lol). The name I concocted for this is pretty self-explanatory. All the colors in this look are in the family of beige and neutrals.
For the top it is a regular beige polo shirt from Lacoste. I had this way back when I was on college. It just proves that i have lost a lot of weight. ^_^ I bought the jacket from HK. A faux leather jacket with D&G logo. I love the zipper detailing on the front and the color is a dark shade of gray. For close up look: Image and video hosting by TinyPic My accessories are featured on the picture as well. An oriental styled neck piece which I bought for just a reasonable price. For my watch, it is another piece I bought from HK. They have great formal watch collection for a cheap price. For my pants this is the remainder of the fabric i used for my Burberry Madness look in LB. I made pants out of it. The fit is very fitted however this is the type of fabric where it is stretch and at the same time very breathable. Hope you like it. Please hype my looks to in Lookbook. Just click the hype button and you will be directed to the site. ♥_♥

Victorian and Leather

Victorian and Leather.. This look was completely done by me.. Victorian style top, It is made out of Dark green and light green jersey. I used draping method and pleading technique for the small folds and applied ruffles and pearl buttons to create the victorian look: Here is a close-up look: Image and video hosting by TinyPic My pants were created out of black leatherette, the front part was stitched to give an embossed look, zipper on the sides so it can be stretched and black cotton fabric at the back for comfort since wearing leather on skin is very uncomfortable: Image and video hosting by TinyPic Lastly Shoes were made out of blue green snake skin leather and added 2-1/2 inches heels my new design for shoes.. Kurtified..

I call this look Kurtified.. This is very Kurt Hummel look from Glee. I was watching Glee Season 3 again and I was suddenly inspired to pay tribute to Kurt, a well-known gay character in television today. I was so in love with this Boots from Timberland. I bought it online and was a very good find. It is a rare Timberland design with Silver splatter on the side. Here it is for a closer look: Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Victorian Obsession

I have been quite obsessed with Victorian-style nowadays. I have been creating Victorian-styled blouses and practicing my pleading skills for three looks now. For the top, I have added a Victorian-styled white neck area blouse to my simple brown cardigan. I also created the cross necklace, it is made out of clear Swarovski and pearl beads with the big cross. I have included it on the necklace not as a pendant but continued part of the necklace itself. Here is the close-up look: Image and video hosting by TinyPic For my pants,it is black leather pants from Oxygen. For my shoes: Courtesy of YRYS, black shoes with brown alligator skin. I called this no smoking sign as I was literally standing to it. I have been trying to quit smoking for quite sometime now. I stopped for a year maybe to let my lungs regenerate and unfortunately I got hooked again. For my look: Top: I am wearing a purple, gray, and black striped polo shirt from BUM Equipment.
